How it works: style, mood, story — about 3 minutes

Four steps, roughly two minutes of your time. First, pick the music style — 9 options, from pop ballad and acoustic to rock, rap, Latin, oldies, dance and country. Second, pick the mood: happy, romantic, funny, emotional, celebratory, nostalgic, calm or epic. The mood decides how the song FEELS — the same style can carry a tearjerker or a party anthem. Third, tell the story in the free-text box: my friend's name, a nod to New Year if you want it in the lyrics, and two or three concrete memories. You also choose the voice here — male, female or a duet. Fourth, enter your email and pay $8.99.
